Le meraviglie di Corte Bissari: visita archeologica
April 25 - September 30
The “Archaeological Area of Corte dei Bissari“, a precious jewel set inside the Basilica Palladiana, reopens to the public.
Visitors will be able to appreciate not only the ancient structures preserved, but also a selection of archaeological materials recovered during the excavation, displayed in some showcases dedicated respectively to the protohistoric age (VII-II century BC), the first Romanization (II-I century BC) and the Roman age and late Roman (I-V century AD).
The site is, therefore, a true palimpsest of the history of Vicenza from the foundation of the ancient Veneti to the Renaissance, proving to be of particular interest for the urban reconstruction of a residential sector of ancient Vicetia, at the time adjacent to the city Forum.
The itinerary: the archaeological area has an area of 150 square meters and is equipped with a walkway from which you can see finds with floor inserts in clear glass that allow you to appreciate what remains of the Roman road. The route is enriched by an essential didactic apparatus divided into titles, subtitles and captions, also in English.
