Marc Ribot concert: “Songs of RESISTance”
Marc Ribot, one of the most famous and appreciated guitarists in the world, returns to the Auditorium to present his new album Songs of Resistance 1948 – 2018.
Ribot has decided to put together a series of songs from the anti-fascist songs of World War II partisans, the U.S. civil rights movement and Mexican protest ballads, as well as original compositions. The career of American guitarist Marc Ribot spans all genres, and you many have heard his compositions without realizing it in the records of Tom Waits and Elvis Costello or in the soundtrack of The Departed by Scorsese.
He has played and participated in the recording of the records of the most important stars of world music, such as Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Diana Krall and Marianne Faithful, Caetano Veloso and McCoy Tyner, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Norah Jones. From his collaborations with symphony orchestras to those with soul and jazz luminaries (John Zorn first and foremost), Ribot’s career is an ode to the complexity and richness of popular music in the Americas.
