Maurice Marinot. The Glass, 1911-1934

March 25 - July 28

The spring exhibition of LE STANZE DEL VETRO will be dedicated to the great French artist who laid the foundations of contemporary glass thanks to his personal experimentation on form and technique.

With over 200 works from prestigious museums, plus numerous preparatory drawings, the exhibition will highlight the incredible originality of the artist-glassmaker, from his first enamel creations to blown and personally modelled glass with extraordinary skill and inexhaustible inventiveness.

Maurice Marinot. The Glass, 1911-1934, curated by Jean-Luc Olivié and Cristina Beltrami, is organized by LE STANZE DEL VETRO in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris (MAD).

This exhibition will be the first international tribute to this great glass craftsman – Maurice Marinot (1882 – 1960) – protagonist of a revolution, in technique as in taste. An indefatigable experimenter, Marinot has invented formulas for working with the material that have been emulated in the decades to come.

The exhibition will be open to the public on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore from 25 March to 28 July 2019.
