Palazzo della Ragione was the ancient seat of the city courts of Padua. It is also called “The Salon” because the first floor is a salon-shaped room, which is accessible from the “Scala delle Erbe” in Piazza delle Erbe.
It was originally decorated with frescoes by Giotto, destroyed during the 1420s fire.
The pictorial cycle inside the palace is one of the largest in the world: zodiacal, astrological, religious, animal motives symbolize the activities of the city, in different periods of the year.
Address: Piazza delle Erbe
