Piazza dei Signori is the main square of the historic center of Vicenza.
Originally a Roman forum and market place, the square represents now the crossroads of business and leisure in the city.
The square has a rectangular shape and along one major side you will see the Basilica Palladiana and the Bissara tower, while on the opposite side you will notice the Loggia del Capitaniato (also the work of Palladio), the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà with the Church of San Vincenzo and there are numerous paths.
The square was called “dei Signori” because the podestà and the captain, representatives of the Seignory of Venice, lived here.
Address: Piazza dei Signori.
